The company consists of a professional engineering service business, which is most active in North America.   The company supplies remotely-accessed steel cord belt scanners for NDT belt condition monitoring.   Thirty (30) mines use the remote scanners and Purchase Orders exist into the future.   The technology is supported as required, by upgrade or replacement, if damage occurs.   Data collected is analyzed using proprietary software as discussed below.   Large and strategic steel cord belts are remotely scanned from the NSW base at regular intervals, in order to monitor damage progression so that a belt failure can be avoided.

REMOTE BELT MONITORING :

Welcome to Conveyor Technologies Pty Ltd (CTPL).   In 2015 :
  • Company conducts over 100 non-destructive tests on steel cord belts per annum, worldwide.
  • Belts are remotely scanned with widths up to 84 inches (2.15 m)
  • Belt speeds are up to 1460 fpm (7.6 m/s).
  • Operational risk is considerably reduced when a belt is regularly monitored for damage and deterioration.
  • We can double or triple the expected belt life by monitoring and instigating repairs.
We are known for :
  1. Accurate information about splices and cable damage is provided in professional engineering reports.
  2. Repairs can be designed to increase belt safety factor.
  3. Independence from conveyor belt suppliers.
  4. A proven capability to test belts anywhere at any time using remote data acquisition.
  5. No other company has the track record of continual monitoring steel cord belts since its invention in 1979.
  6. Solving maintenance issues with conveyors is part of the independent service.

BELT SCANNING EQUIPMENT
  • Scan equipment exists in USA, Canada, Peru and Australia (30 belt systems)
  • 27 high-value conveyors are scanned in the USA.
  • Below is an example of the remote belt scanning system.
  • Scanners are either permanently installed or are removal to protect the unit from belt rubbing.

Belt Scanner Modem Unit

Modem and data Logger is connected to the sensor under the steel cord belt. Magnetic fields from the belt's cable ends (broken cables) activate the modem encoder that transmit signals to base. At present CTPL records data from 10,000 miles away (16,000 km).

The Scan Unit
Belt Scan unit placed under the return side of the flat steel cord belt, within 1 inch (25 mm) of the belt. Each mine installs the scanner to specifications and position requirements, since every structure is unique. CTPL does not install the scanner systems in order to keep costs low.
