About Belt Scans
Steel cord belts suffer damage and deterioration from lump impact, mistracking belt colliding with steel structure, wear from drive slip and loading issues, and from manufacturing defects such as displaced cord planes at press-length intervals and at embedded loops. These are a few of the problems that increase belt operational risk and reduce belt life.
Belts scanned by CT P/L have extended belt life, and in some cases belts are operating without failure 2 to 3 times longer than expected. Below are some examples of belt damage types, and some related scan results.

Data Collecting
Conveyor Technologies Pty Ltd collects data for over 100 steel cord belt tests per year using
1. The Internet/Ethernet at mines
2. On-line Broadband
3. Mobile or Cell Phone
4. Land line Telco

Learn More About Belt Scan Reporting
We scan the Longest, Widest, Strongest and Fastest belts in North America. Some of our systems have been installed without breakdown since 2001. While some scan companies may detect 18 broken cables at a site of damage, others would only detect 3 broken cables : We would detect 7 - highlighting a disparity between systems !.
Windowing the belt rubber cover shows the CT P/L system to be the most accurate, as seen from the diagram.
In the diagram, 6 damage events were opened up and the actual damage levels recorded visually (bv)
About Belt Scanners
Scanners and remote data access electronics are supplied as part of the scanning contract. A 2 year purchase Order secures a system which is shipped to the mine. Shipping costs apply. Equipment value varies, typically its replacement cost (if damaged or lost through removal) is US$1,200/linear foot of scanner, and US$1,500 per modem.
